A Newcastle pensioner who was assaulted in his own home has died, police have said.
Harold Lindley, 89, known as Harry, died in Newcastle General Hospital.
Northumbria Police said a post mortem examination would be carried out.
Mr Lindley, a former Army captain, was found with serious facial injuries at his home at Walker Grove, Walker in April.
After leaving the Army in 1949 the widower opened a plumbers merchant business in Gosforth and worked up until the age of 70.
Michael Stephenson, 20, of Westbury Avenue, Walker, has appeared in court charged with robbery and grievous bodily harm.
