THE mystery over the identity of a man whose body was found in woods more than a week ago has been solved.
Durham Police sent out appeals after they were unable to trace the identity of the man whose body was found in woods near Finchale Caravan Park on the outskirts of the city on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, May 5.
Yesterday they confirmed his identity as Stephen Hall, 39, who lived with his widowed mother Brenda in Fair View, West Rainton, close to where the body was discovered. It is understood Mrs Hall had been on holiday and only discovered her son was missing on her return.
Although police described the death as "unexplained" following a post-mortem, the cause is not thought to be suspicious.
