Witness plea over fatal accident

Police accident specialists investigating a collision which resulted in the death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl last month are hoping to trace a potentially vital witness.
Katherine Dunning, from Portland Avenue in Seaham, County Durham, was struck by a silver coloured Renault Clio on The Graham Way in the town shortly before 7.30pm on Sunday, December 16.
Inquiries since then by officers investigating the case have revealed there was another car travelling south at the scene at the time of the accident and they are appealing for the driver of this vehicle, and any passengers, to come forward.
PC Nigel Craig said; "There is no suggestion this vehicle was involved in the accident itself but it passed through the scene only seconds before the collision.
"We are sure the driver will have seen the Renault Clio coming towards it, travelling north."
The driver of the car is asked to contact the accident unit on 0191 375 2159.
