Murder probe underway after death of elderly woman

A MURDER investigation is underway after the death of an elderly woman in County Durham yesterday. Detectives were called to Haughton Road, in Darlington, at 12.30pm, where they found the body of an 80-year-old woman. They have arrested three men, aged 44, 40 and 33, on suspicion of murder. A post mortem is due to be carried out to establish a cause of death. A team of 40 detectives from Durham Police’s Major Crime Team are working on the case, led by Det Chief Insp Steve Chapman at Bishop Auckland Police Station. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.Read
