Skipper Jack Harrison set for Tynedale RFC return

TYNEDALE hope to welcome back captain Jack Harrison for tomorrow’s National One visit of Rosslyn Park.

The centre has been sidelined since December’s home defeat to Blaydon with rib cartilage trouble, and hopes to join a side also waiting on the fitness of full-back Chris Harris.

The Newcastle Falcons man left the field midway through last weekend’s 33-20 loss at Cinderford, chairman of rugby John Shotton saying: “He seems to think he will be OK, although we have a couple of doubts over Stuart Johnson (back) and Dickie Miller (ankle) which we will have to wait and see on.”

Beaten in Gloucestershire six days ago, Shotton added: “The Cinderford defeat was disappointing, but it seems like I say this every week.

“We watched the video on the bus home and can’t believe we lost the game. We had a bad period before and after half-time during which we lost 12 points, but we are playing well enough and not getting the results.

“Rosslyn Park tomorrow are not a bad side, as their league position shows being fourth in the table. We got stuffed down there in October but won there quite easily the year before, so we have seen both sides of it against them. It will be a good contest, and we have got to win one of these games some time. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day.”

Second-placed Blaydon travel to Old Albanians on a day when leaders Ealing travel to third-placed Esher, while in National Two North Westoe’s survival campaign sees them in action at Dudley Kingswinford.

Percy Park are again without captain John Scott for their National Three North visit of Sandal, the Northumberland County scrum-half still in hospital after fracturing his neck two weeks ago at Rossendale.

Park welcome back lock James Ponton (work), No 8 Brett Sylph (back) and centre Ali Blair (broken nose).
