Falcons hoping to repay loyal fans

Newcastle Falcons boss Steve Bates

STEVE Bates has promised Newcastle Falcons fans a team to be proud of next season as the club launched their season tickets for next campaign.

The Falcons are offering a 17-game season ticket from £129 for adults and £59 for kids if bought before April 30 – a slight increase on last season but cheaper than the club were charging in 2006.

The deal is aimed at boosting the Falcons’ supporter base as they look to build on this season’s topsy-turvy campaign, as well as securing funds early enough in the year to help recruit reinforcements.

After announcing new deals for Micky Ward, Chris Pilgrim, Rob Vickers and Alex Tait this week the club already have the foundations of a decent squad, which will also include key men Micky Young, James Hudson and Jimmy Gopperth.

After a fine start to this campaign the Falcons have slipped to ninth and their immediate priority will be trying to stave off relegation. But Bates believes the club is moving in the right direction.

“We are in the process of assembling a strong squad for next season, and building on the firm foundations we have here at Kingston Park,” he said.

“Our season ticket holders are every bit as important as the players in creating the environment for success. We ultimately share the same ambitions and by working together we can achieve our collective goals.

“The majority of our talented players are already under contract and over the coming weeks and months we will continue down the path of renewing further deals and bringing quality players into the club.

“The backing of our loyal fans is absolutely vital in this process, and with your continued support we can create the environment to fulfil all of our ambitions together.”

The club hope their innovative pricing plans will encourage new supporters through the gates of Kingston Park.

Booking before the end of April will give fans a 10% reduction on those booking after the early bird deadline expires while other benefits of buying a season ticket include a 10% discount in the club shop and access to a player event before the campaign starts.

Falcons chairman Dave Thompson, said: “We enjoy a fantastic home support at Kingston Park, and our regular fans remain the lifeblood of this club. We are working hard behind the scenes in assembling a quality squad capable of a significant assault on the 2010/11 campaign, and the backing of our season ticket holders is absolutely imperative.”
