Gateshead Thunder hope to reschedule Castleford Tigers clash

GATESHEAD Thunder are hoping to reschedule their postponed friendly with Castleford Tigers for this coming weekend.

The Super League outfit were due at the International Stadium last Sunday for a pre-season run-out to kick-start the new campaign, but both clubs were beaten by the elements as the match was among the many in the region to be frozen off.

Thunder managing director Keith Christie said: “I am really disappointed the game didn’t go ahead last weekend.

“The players and staff have worked very hard over the off-season to get to the point of playing, and when games don’t go ahead it is a real let-down.

“For whatever reason the time and effort put into putting a game on is wasted as well as the cost of food ordered, staffing and travel all which has to be paid for without any return to the club.”

Christie added: “Fortunately enough we are looking to recuperate some of that money with a rescheduled game this weekend against them, but we still have to work out and confirm the arrangements.”
