NEWCASTLE Falcons are asking for supporters’ help to try and make sure Friday’s Championship visit of Cornish Pirates beats the weather.

Fans are requested to turn up at Kingston Park from 9am onwards today with snow shovels and wheelbarrows if possible.

The Falcons are aiming to avoid a second consecutive postponement after Saturday’s trip to Welsh club Cross Keys fell victim to the snow.

Executive director Paul Varley said: “We are doing everything in our power to get Friday’s game to go ahead as planned and we would be most grateful if supporters are able to lend a hand.

“The safety of our supporters on a match day is of paramount importance and it is vital we make safe the stands and other areas in and around the ground.”
