DURHAM are closing in on a three day Championship win after bowling Worcestershire out for for just 217 in their first innings to enforce the follow on.
The home side still trailed by 370 runs, and with two full sessions of the day remaining, and with one of their batsman Adrian Shankar unable to bat because of an injury, Durham's players will be looking for a day off tomorrow ahead of the one day game against Warwickshire.
Steve Harmison finished the innings with decent figures of 4-67, adding the wicket of Gareth Andrew, caught trying to flick the ball behind by Phil Mustard for 27 and, although the 32- year-old looked tired at the end of his spell, it has been an encouraging return to the side after injury.
There was some brief counter-attacking from Damien Wright to entertain the Worcestershire supporters before he fell to Ruel Brathwaite, caught by Calum Thorp at gully for 27.
Ben Scott also played some nice shots before he was bowled by Ben Stokes for 37 and Scott Borthwick wrapped things up, Richard Jones top edging a sweep, the simple catch taken by Mustard.
James Cameron almost went at the start of the second, a steep, rising delivery from Harmison, clipping the top edge of his bat but falling just in front of Stokes at leg gully. Worcestershire are 20-0 at lunch.
