Essex v Durham: Day three tea
WE have seen another tantalising glimpse of Scott Borthwick's vast potential after lunch and the young leg spinner probably deserves more than just two wickets to show for it.
This year has turned into a transitional one for Durham and Borthwick's progress has been one of the main pluses. He has started to score his fair share of runs in the lower middle order and his bowling grows in stature.
Neither Mike Walker or Tony Palladino have looked comfortable facing him, even they have both survived until tea to realistically bat Durham out of the game.
Borthwick did get the wickets of James Foster for 64 and Michael Comber for his second duck of the match. Both were caught by Michael Di Venuto at second slip to take him to 28 for the season, a new Durham Championship record. Essex lead by 394 with three wickets remaining. Walker is on 91 and Palladino is 28 not out.
