Worcs v Durham: Day Four close
DURHAM finished their County Championship campaign with a whimper as Worcestershire held out for a draw on a sunny afternoon at New Road.
The hosts declared on 410-7 at 4.32pm, causing both captains to shake hands on a draw.
The champions were unable to take another wicket after the interval as Gareth Andrew scored his second half-century of the match and Richard Jones got the first of his career. Andrew finished with 59 not out, his partner unbeaten on 53.
Andrew took 76 balls over his, scoring eight fours. Jones was quicker, taking 64 deliveries and hitting seven fours and the six which extended his team's lead into three figures.
It meant Liam Plunkett ended the season on a frustrating 49 County Championship wickets for the season.
He thought he had number 50 when Michael Di Venuto took a brilliant slip catch flying to his left. But the umpire ruled that Jones, who was on 37 at the time, had not made contact with the ball.
