Dinner with Teo

A tribute evening for Olympic legend Teofilo Stevenson will be held at the Civic Centre in Newcastle on June 5.

The three-time Olympic heavyweight champion is flying in from Cuba for a black tie event arranged by former world cruiserweight champion Glenn McCrory.

The evening, in front of British Olympians, will consist of a three- course dinner, entertainment, auction and video tribute to the great man.

"I have got to know Teo well on my visits to Havana and he is a terrific guy," said McCrory.

"In many ways I believe this dinner is even more attractive than when I brought up ex-world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield because getting legendary Cuban fighters over here has been almost an impossibility."

Tables of 10 are priced at £300 with all proceeds going via the McCrory Foundation to the development of boxing in the North East.

They are available by phoning the Northumbria ABC gym on (0191) 214 6228.
