Barr is rapped

England international Gary Barr has been disciplined by the ABA. Birtley's Barr attended a hearing in London into incidents abroad when on international duty.

Area secretary Ron Harvey confirmed today that, as a result of the hearing, Barr had been given a six-month ban suspended for one year.

I understand Barr is to take three months out of the gym and then return to the ring.

Birtley stablemate Billy Dean Dolan, who won the Golden Gloves national title for schoolboys, is to box in a Tri-Nations tournament in Edinburgh on Friday and Saturday.
