Dixon Khan be a big star, says coach

Craig Dixon is being tipped for big things after continuing his winning ways on the North Benwell Show at the Newcastle Labour Club.

Dixon took a unanimous points decision against Leeds' Adan Khan in a cracking bout.

The Birtley boxer's only defeat this season came against ABA champion Bradley Saunders, and head coach Ronnie Rowe told me: "Craig is looking superb. We're expecting big things from him."

Another Birtley boxer, Richie Boyle, went over to Jersey to say thank you to his old club and won the top-of-the-bill contest against Joe Cosgrove of Manchester.

Boyle has returned to Birtley after spending 18 months on the Channel Isles and Rowe added: "His ABA defeat against John Watson was disappointing but Richie looks to have the bit between his teeth at the moment."

Other North Benwell results:

Callum French (High Fell) bt Sean Loxley (North Benwell) pts; L Alliston (Shildon) bt Jake Anderson (Newbiggin) pts; Drew Sweet (Newbiggin) bt Joe Wilson (Batesons Burley Hill) pts; Steven Shaw (Consett) bt Neil Archer (Horden) pts; Sean French (Hed Fit) bt Calvin Chisholm (Ashington) pts; Tom Dowling (North Benwell) bt Mike McCormella (Hed Fit) pts.
