Speedway: Mildenhall Fen Tigers 29 Berwick Bandits 61

BERWICK Bandits shocked the speedway world yesterday afternoon when they opened the Premier League with a sensational away victory at the Mildenhall Fen Tigers by an astonishing 32 points.

Using rider replacement for the injured Guglielmo Franchetti, five of the remaining six Bandits hit double figure scores, with skipper Adrian Rymel topping the list on 14. The win came a day after the Bandits’ first home win since last August over the Glasgow Tigers.

Berwick promoter Peter Waite said: “This was awesome speedway to watch and it has boosted the confidence of the Bandits no end. I now think we have a team capable of big things.”

MILDENHALL FEN TIGERS: Kaj Laukannen 6+1, John Oliver 7+1, Jan Gravesen 6+1, Casper Wortman 2, Mark Baseby 5, James Cockle 3.
