SUNDERLAND Harrier Gavin Massingham, competing as a guest, sprinted to victory at yesterday's first North Yorkshire and South Durham Cross Country League fixture, at Croft Autodrome.
Massingham, who has set several personal best times for 800m, 1500m and a mile, this summer, was content to run alongside Andy Wiles of New Marske for most of the four lap course, before kicking for home in the final 100m.
Middlesbrough’s Carolyn Summersgill returned to action after injury, and had to wait until the second of the three laps, to pull away. Former North Eastern champion, Marie Stansmore of North Yorks Moors, finished in second place.
