NEW Marske teenager Russell Best outclassed the opposition to win yesterday’s Ripon Holly Jog 10km Multi Terrain event.

The Cleveland sixth form student, fifth in 2007, soon headed the field on the hilly course, pulling away to a massive 2mins 37secs victory over Billingham’s Andy Chadfield.

Sunderland veteran Brian Bewick finished in third place.

York’s Becky Penty won the women’s race for the third successive year, finishing in 15th position overall in the 470-strong field.

Former Quakers athlete Julia Orr, now running for Dundee Hawkhill, finished in second place with York’s Dawn Gibbs, the leading veteran in third.
