THE Warriors made it seven wins out of seven in the English National League last night, when they scored a comfortable victory over Trafford.
Not for the first time this season at Hillheads Whitley were quick off the mark and they last night took the lead on two minutes when Peter Zajac deceived the visiting keeper with a rasping shot over his shoulder.
Nathan Ryder doubled the Warriors’ lead at 8.36, but they could find no further way past Metros netminder Rob Browne as he produced a number of excellent saves.
However, he could do little to prevent Zajac from grabbing his second inside the opening two minutes of the middle session, and the Warriors went further ahead at 29.39 when Adam Reynolds scored the goal of the night.
With the home side short-handed, Reynolds collected the puck and beat the last defender all in one movement to race in on goal and score.
Paul Windridge made it five in the 35th minute when Whitley pulled apart the visiting defence, Ryan Sample completed the second period scoring at 36.11. Both sides changed netminders for the final 20 minutes, but after only 11 seconds the Warriors were seven up via Karl Culley.
Trafford did finally get on the board on 50 minutes when Alfie Olinski netted from close range.
WHITLEY SCORERS: Zajac 2+0, Culley & Reynolds 1+2, Windridge 1+1, Sample & Ryder 1+0, Kippin 0+3, Watson & Good 0+1.
