Whitley Warriors 9, Blackburn Hawks 0
THE Warriors cruised to victory last night against a Blackburn side which, although fighting relegation, has shown improved form since the appointment of experienced Neil Abel as coach in November.
The home side struck first through Callum Watson. Daniel Murdy netted on the powerplay at 11.19 and Nathan Salem stepped round the last defender to beat the Blackburn keeper over his left shoulder.
Whitley added to their tally through Andrew Tindale, but despite constant pressure the home side had to wait until the 38th minute before Nathan Ryder made it 5-0.
Rob Wilson added to the tally while Shaun Kippin brought the Hillheads crowd to their feet by skating the length of the ice before laying off a pass, but received the puck straight back and fired home the seventh at 46.49. Callum Watson completed the scoring.
WHITLEY picked up their first Northern League win in Dundee on Saturday, as they came from behind to snatch the points, defeating Dundee Stars 2-1.
