A SENSATIONAL comeback from the Warriors kept them on track for a place in the English National League Championship Final at Coventry with four goals in the last 10 minutes turning the game at Nottingham on its head last night, writes DAVID HALL.
Chris Colgate put the home side ahead on four minutes and it was 2-0 at 12.11 when a long-range Colm Cannon shot took an awkward bounce to deceive Whitley keeper Thomas Murdy.
However, Andrew Carter kept the Warriors in touch when he netted on the powerplay at 16.06.
Neither side could find the net in the middle session and things looked bleak for the visitors when Adam Robinson extended the Lions advantage 90 seconds into the last period.
Andrew Tindale gave Whitley a lifeline when he touched the puck home and home hearts sank three minutes from time when Bryan Dunn grabbed the equaliser.
But the Warriors were not finished and went in front for the first time 20 seconds later through Andrew Carter leaving Karl Culley to put the icing on the cake late on.
WHITLEY WARRIORS: Carter 2+2, Tindale and Culley 1+1, Dunn 1+0, S Zajac, D Good and Wilson 0+1.
