THE Warriors scored an impressive win over a Solway Sharks side that had been the first team to get anything out of Fife Flyers this season when they had lost in overtime the previous night.
Andrew Carter put Whitley ahead at 6.05 when he forced the puck home in a goalmouth scramble and just four minutes later DJ Good doubled the home lead.
Whitley were making the most of their opportunities of the opening session and Andrew Tindale made it 3-0 at 18.09.
Solway then changed netminders at the start of the second session and for 32 minutes Dewar Anderson was good enough to keep Whitley at bay.
However, there was nothing he could do to prevent DJ Good from tipping home at 52.19 and Whitley added a fifth soon after.
Deprived of any powerplay opportunities they found the net on a short-handed play when Andrew Tindale scored at 56.42 to complete the Whitley win.
Focus then switched to the other end of the ice as the home side protected netminder Thomas Murdy, who picked up the man-of-the-match award for his 28-shot shut-out in the Northern League fixture.
WHITLEY WARRIORS: Tindale 2+1, D Good 2+0, Carter 1+0, Dunn and M Good 0+2, Hendry 0+1.
