Culley warning for Whitley

KARL Culley has urged his Whitley Warriors players not to get dragged down by Paisley Pirates today.

The Warriors are top of the English National League (North) but the joint player-coach is concerned they are only producing their best against the top sides.

With the game against struggling Paisley in the Northern League, followed by a home match against Dundee Stars in the same competition tomorrow, Culley is anxious to break a pattern.

“We were okay away to Blackburn on the Saturday, but I wasn’t happy with the performance at home to Kingston,” said the former Vipers player. “It seems we bring our play down to the level of the opposition at times, rather then rising above them and making life easy for ourselves.

“Too many times the quality of our shooting is not what it should be.

“We struggled against a side that will not make the play-offs for the second week running, and it’s not good enough.”

The ENL Vipers will be looking to close the gap on Whitley with victory in today’s early face-off at home to Nottingham Lions.

Billingham Bombers have games away to Lancashire Raptors today and at home to Flintshire Freeze tomorrow.
