Blackburn Hawks 4, Newcastle ENL Vipers 1

NEWCASTLE ENL Vipers remain in second place in English National Ice Hockey League North after suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Blackburn Hawks last night.

An under-strength side minus several players took the lead in the seventh minute on the powerplay through Jamie Tinsley.

Vipers kept hold of their lead until the 25th minute when Hawks levelled when short-handed. Four minutes from the second interval Blackburn, on a powerplay, took the lead and increased their lead on another powerplay with 10 minutes remaining.

With under two minutes to go Blackburn completed the scoring with a fourth.

This was Newcastle’s first defeat after nine successive victories in both league and cup this season.
