The Graeme Storm Column

Tour Professional Graeme Storm Continues His Exclusive Column For Golf North East

There's not long to go to the end of the season now and I'll be looking to finish in style. After three weeks off I returned to the European Tour at the SAS Masters in Sweden and was fairly pleased with the way the tournament went.

I played pretty consistently and the second round 66 was the highlight. I was happy to finish in the top 20 and it sets me up for the next few events, which start with the KLM Open in Holland (which was getting underway as this issue of Golf North East went to press).

Then I'll be going up to Gleneagles in Scotland for the Johnnie Walker Championship and after that I'll be heading off to Switzerland for the Omega European Masters and then to Germany for the Mercedes-Benz Championship.

It's quite an exciting period for me and I'm just hoping that I can get the rub of the green.

I'm certainly fairly happy with my game and haven't needed to work on anything specific.

During my three weeks off Tour at the end of July and start of August I didn't take a total break from golf though as I played in the Numark British Par 3 Championship, which was hosted by Tony Jacklin CBE at Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire.

The two-day Pro-Am event was a real golfing spectacular and featured many of my European Tour players such as Lee Slattery, Tom Whitehouse, Sam Walker and David Lynn as well as celebrities from the world of sport like Lee Sharpe, Peter Schmeichel, Frank Worthington, Henry Olonga, Alan McInally and Willie Thorne.

The rain on the first day did not dampen spirits and the second day's play ensured that the tournament was a huge success with some incredible scoring.

I was delighted to be able to donate my winnings from the event to my chosen charity Georgies Fund, which looks to support children with Neuroblastoma.

I've been supporting this great charity this season and it's great to be able to add to their total fundraising. If you are interested in helping Georgies Fund, please call 01932 858987 or send an emil to: enquires@georgies-fund.com
