Soccer Stars' Charity Effort

Scotland football manager George Burley, the former Sunderland right-back, was the star turn at a Show Racism the Red Card Golf Challenge at Tynemouth Golf club. Footballing legends from Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough put their rivalries aside to celebrate the success of the North East-based educational charity, Show Racism the Red Card.

The honorary patrons of the campaign - John Beresford, Gary Bennett, Gary Pallister, John Hendrie, John Anderson and Dean Gordon - were joined by Burley, Len Ashurst, Eric Gates and former Manchester United defender Martin Buchan at the event, which was followed by a celebration dinner at the Grand Hotel, Tynemouth.

Leading UK print and packaging company Potts, based in Cramlington, teamed up with PaperCo, to sponsor the Golf Challenge events as a thank you for the continued support of the players and managers involved with an admirable charity.

Players from Potts and Paperco also took part in the challenge, which was won by the team captained by ex-Newcastle and Middlesbrough winger Hendrie.
