Juniors On Top

Linden Hall's juniors have pulled together to win the North Northumberland Junior League. Peter Boyle was full of praise for the junior team and said: "This is our third season in the league; there were eight players involved throughout the season who worked together as a team to great effect. We are unbeaten at home this season in the league; in fact we are unbeaten in 3 seasons of home league games.
"After a solid start we tasted a couple of away defeats but were never below third in the league table at any time. The drive and commitment of the junior team are what got us past the finish line as they all have a great passion for the game."
Without doubt the coaching the team have received from Linden's Head Teaching Professional Gordon Morrison has made a huge difference to their game and Gordon deserves much credit - he has a unique coaching style and the end results speak for themselves.
Peter added: "We have fantastic practice facilities which the team used relentlessly throughout the season with Gordon's guidance. And we have been lucky to play some of the best courses in Northumberland where hospitality was of the highest quality and all the Junior Liaison Officers put in a lot of their own time to good effect.
"The league is very well run by Colin Harris (league secretary) where the emphasis is on enjoyment, fun, and good etiquette. With the standard of junior golf in the league improving year-on-year it makes our win that much better; we look forward to representing the league in the Sunday Telegraph League Winner's Champions of Champions at Leeds in September.
"On a personal note, you need a strong team behind you when striving for success and the support of Bernard Bloodworth, the General Manager at Linden, Jeff Dixon, Brian Alderson and Victoria in the Linden Tree have been a rock and I want to thank them for everything they have done.
"Arranging travel, coaching, meals and organising the matches could not be done on my own and a huge thank-you to the support of Brian Consitt, Peter and Ros Cochrane.
Peter concluded: "All in all a fantastic season from a great group of lads who have played all season with a smile on their faces and been great ambassadors for the club."
The 8 players are: Craig Consitt (captain), Matthew Boyle (vice-captain), Tim Michie, Jamie Smiles, Tom Robinson, Alex Winter, Lewis Cochrane and Simon Michie.
