Golf a dream for sponsors

THE Journal Dream Team challenge match has a new sponsor in Kaims County Park, who also support this year’s opponents, the North Northumberland League.

The 2010 match is being hosted by Burgham Park, a former venue for the PGA North Region Championship, on Monday July 12, three days before The Open Championship at St Andrews.

The Kaims Country Park caravan site in Bamburgh is jointly owned by an ex-mayor of Berwick, Lance Robson, and Robbie Redpath, a former rugby union fitness trainer with Newcastle Falcons and Border Reivers.

Redpath said: “We have always been keen on sponsoring sport, which is a value for money way of getting more people to know about you. In the past we have been involved with Newcastle United and the Falcons.”

Rothbury-born and brought up in Wooler, Redpath, an ex-marine, is a member of Bamburgh Castle and a former Bellingham junior champion.

He added: “For anybody who wants to get a message across about their business, there is nothing with a better image than golf.

“And as I am a golf addict, there is the bonus of combining business with pleasure. Golf sponsorship? You can’t beat it.”
