THE 25th Anniversary Charity Golf Day, to celebrate the first heart transplant at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, takes place at Tynemouth Golf Club on Friday, May 14.
Tynemouth member Graham Marsh is helping organise the event with sponsors and participants already being sought.
Marsh’s heart transplant operation 11 years ago was so successful he went on to win the British Transplant Golf Championship.
He is the current British Veteran Transplant Sprint Champion over both 100 and 200 metres and has opened the batting for the GB Transplant Cricket Club.
Marsh said: “The Freeman Hospital is known throughout the world for its pioneering research and excellence and will celebrate 25 years of transplants this year, hence our one-off golf tournament.”
All money raised will go to the Freeman Heart & Lung Transplant Association and a stableford team of four costs £150, including live music at the dinner.
