Interactive zone

SPECTATORS will have the chance to both watch and play at the De Vere Collection PGA Seniors Championship, which starts on Slaley Hall’s Hunting Course this week.

The field includes Ryder Cup winning captains Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam, also a former Augusta Masters champion and the ex-world No 1.

The big attraction off the course is the Nikegolf Interactive Zone. This will be open near the practice range on all four tournament days (10am-4pm) from Thursday until the deciding round on Sunday.

Free tuition is available from the resort’s team of PGA professionals. Golfers can get custom fitted and put their swing characteristics to the test on Nike’s Flightscope software. Golfers will also have the chance to try out new equipment from Nike, who are backing The Journal Champion of Champions event over the same course on September 6.

Keith Pickard, the resort’s golf and leisure director, said: “The interactive zone is open to everyone and, like the championship itself, it’s completely free.”
