You can tee up for heart unit

FROM kind hearts grow healthy hearts.

That is the poignant message the Children’s Heart Unit Fund at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle sends out, and with good reason. Most of us know families who understand only too well why CHUF needs donations of any size.

Golfers can play their part by supporting the CHUF Golf Day at Morpeth on June 19, even if it is only by ringing Lorraine Embleton at the Freeman Hospital and finding out how to send in a few quid.

Or they can go the whole hog by putting together a team of four (£275 per team) for a shotgun start event which tees off at 2.30pm. You will be well fed before and after the golf and there’s evening entertainment.

To enter and/or to sponsor a tee or a hole, contact Lorraine on (0191) 213-1365, email info@chuf.org.uk or visit www.chuf.org.uk

Proceeds will purchase equipment, facilities and aftercare for the Children’s Heart Unit and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Freeman.

Small pieces of equipment help the nurses on the wards and larger items help doctors and surgeons undertake complex operations.

Sometimes funds are used to help pay for medical and support staff, essential to the running of the unit, and also for specialist resources to help children and their families.
