Top tournament comes to Ramside

RAMSIDE Hall will stage the PGA North East North West Championship on July 21, a strokeplay event which had been provisionally arranged for Burgham Park.

Last year the 36-hole tournament – for professionals from the Middlesbrough area, Durham county, Northumberland and Cumbria – was won by the Teesside club’s Vince Guest at Seaton Carew.

Between 2006 and 2008, Burgham invested upwards of £75,000 in the PGA North Region Championship, an Order of Merit major which draws players from North Wales to the Scottish Borders.

Last night Burgham were thanked for that support by Morpeth-based David Clark, a North Region major winner in 2004 and a double major winner on the smaller circuit two years ago. He said: “Coincidentally, I have just come off Burgham and it is in lovely nick. They deserve a lot of thanks for the huge commitment they have given to golf over the past three years.
