Race to Slaley

THE Race to Slaley will feature at weekends in The Journal and our sister paper, the Sunday Sun, from around mid-June to September.
In the build-up to The Journal Champion of Champions at De Vere Slaley Hall on September 6, we shall write about the 2009 champions of all 86 Northumberland and County Durham clubs.
We will also place the champions in a regularly updated league table.
This will be in order of how far under par they finish when their score is set against their club championship’s competition scratch score (CSS).
Nikegolf are putting up a £1,500 prize table for the Champions and the top golfer in The Race to Slaley earns a winner-takes-all prize worth £250.
The champions at clubs whose deciding event is a matchplay tournament will be ineligible for The Race to Slaley.
