TWO Durham youngsters have been making their name a byword for success. Jake Heron, a 12-year-old Hetton Comprehensive pupil, won the Durham County Under-14 Championship earlier this year and was the youngest player in a recent Durham County boys side.
Jake broke his thigh bone when he was younger and was unable to play sport for almost a year. He took up golf aged seven as he was prevented from playing football, and was hooked. He has already aced the 127-yard third hole at his club Ramside.
Meanwhile, another Jake, also 12 years old, has aced the 12th at Seaton Carew and he’s Jake Robertson, the nephew of former England International and Durham County player Alex Robertson, now a pro in Germany.
Jake’s dad, Brian, plays off a six-handicap and his brother Daniel, 19, plays off nine. Now his six-year-old brother Aaron is taking golf lessons.
Jake, who goes to High Tunstall School College of Science, was playing in a Texas scramble with Gloria West and Gary Thrift when he hit his hole-in-one.
