Wynyard On A High

New membership applications are soaring at Wynyard Golf Club in the Tees Valley. Annual membership for individual, youth and corporate players runs from August 2009 through to July 2010 with a waiting list applying from the end of September.

Wynyard Golf Club has attracted many new members over the past few months and was singled out by a national newspaper and golf magazine as "one of the few (golf) clubs doing well" during the recession.

It stated that unlike many other clubs, Wynyard is successfully riding the current economic climate by amongst other factors, "reaching out to younger audiences".

Last year, considerable investment was made improving the 18-hole Wellington Course, and this, according to many golfers, has created excellent standards of play last seen when the club hosted the prestigious Seve Trophy back in 2005.

The club, set on the exclusive Wynyard estate near Teesside, also significantly improved all leisure, hospitality and business facilities and more recently appointed one of the region's most talented chefs, David Coulson, to launch The Duke Suite Restaurant.
