In the August issue of Golf North East, we reported that Joe Fraser was thought to have become the first Ravensworth member to hold both the senior and junior club championship. But it turns out that he was beaten to the honour by Craig Kilgour.
A young Craig hit the golfing scene in the late 1980s, winning the Ravensworth junior championship in 1988 and 1989. The following year he won the senior club championship to start a run of victories which saw him retain the title throughout seven consecutive years.
His most successful year was 1991 when in addition to the senior title, he won the junior title at Ravensworth - his double year - along with both the Durham County Amateur and Durham County Match Play titles, the Dunhill Amateur Masters and the City of Newcastle's Youth Open.
Craig retained his County Match Play title in 1992 and throughout the early 90s won 33 Durham County caps along with victories in both the Journal Champion of Champions and the Carlisle Open.
As a result of his achievements, he was afforded life membership of Ravensworth Golf Club.
