Trio Put Morpeth On The Map

Morpeth Golf Club players Sandy Twynholm, Craig Penny and Mark Penny have been flying the flag for their club in some style this summer. The trio have featured very well in county and other major competitions with Sandy winning the Northumberland 72-hole stroke play championship at Newbiggin for the seventh time.

What's more, Craig was runner-up - a position he also secured at the prestigious North & South Trophy at Tynemouth.

In the Northumberland county championship at Arcot Hall, Craig continued his good run of form to reach the semi-final, before eventually losing to the eventual winner Andy Paisley.

Mark added more silverware to the club's burgeoning collection by winning the Fenwick Smith Trophy at Alnmouth while Sandy completed a fine few months by winning the best nett prize at the County Clubs Championship.

This season's success follows hot on the heels of the Morpeth players' tremendous feats in 2008.
