THE Northumberland Ladies County Golf Association have been reflecting on a highly successful 2007 at their annual meeting at The Brandling, Gosforth Park - and getting set for the new season.
Chief among the preparations for 2008 was outgoing captain Carol Ramsay handing over the reins to Lucy Newton.
Lucy is a member of Matfen Hall Golf Club and has represented Northumberland many times.
In addition to being captain, Lucy also holds the position of team manager - a role that covers team selection, squad coaching, arranging practice matches and so on.
The role of captain is always a busy one, however, added to all the usual duties this year, Northumberland ladies will be hosting County Match Week at Arcot Hall - with full details on the build-up plus post-event reports in Golf North East.
Lucy has chosen Angela Rumney of Parklands Golf Club, as her vice captain. As well as being champion of Parklands, Angela has also represented the county many times.
The NLCGA wishes success to both Lucy and Angela in their new roles.
