CHRIS Paisley and Robert Dinwiddie are handily placed to win their European Tour cards after the second round of the final stage of Q-School at the Spanish resort club of PGA Catalunya near Girona, writes TIM TAYLOR.
Paisley, from Mickley, and Barnard Castle’s Dinwiddie signed for the same score for the second day running, adding a one-under 71 on the Stadium Course to Saturday’s three-under 67 over the Tour Course. With the top 30 plus ties making it, they are among 14 players tied 37th with Sam Hutsby leading on 13 under.
The sixth and last round will be played on Thursday, with the top 70 plus ties surviving tomorrow’s fourth-round cut.
Triple Tour winner Nick Dougherty, meanwhile, is tied 98th on one over.
In Mauritius, Matfen Hall’s John Harrison scored 75 for a five-over total of 221 and a tie for 32nd place in the MCB Tour Championship, won by former US Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman with 12 under.
Harrison also finished 32nd in the European Senior Tour Order of Merit won by Australian Peter Fowler.
Barry Lane was runner-up in the final rankings with this year’s Slaley Hall winner Andrew Oldcorn, Gary Wolstenholme and Ian Woosnam filling the next three places. Sam Torrance finished 20th.
