Northern Alliance

WITH several games already postponed, prospects are poor for any return to action in the Pin Point Recruitment Northern Alliance today.

The position is becoming increasingly serious as 18 teams in the league’s three divisions have not had any competitive football for six consecutive Saturdays.

Premier Division outfits Shankhouse, Walker Central, Seaton Delaval, Percy Main and Killingworth Sporting have all been on an unwanted ‘holiday’ since November 6.

County Cup competitions have added to the overall problems following repeated postponements with the Alliance having three clubs on the ‘waiting list’ for the Durham FA Trophy and one – South Shields United – in the queue for the Durham FA Minor Cup.

In addition there are still major concerns surrounding the league’s 14 representatives in the Ideal Stelrad Northumberland Minor Cup.

Fourth round ties had been scheduled for Saturday January 8.

However with third round games all still frozen solid, it looks like there will have to be a complete reassessment of dates by the NFA.

In the meantime, much of the Northern Alliance’s league programme will be on hold.
