Wearside League

ASHBROOKE Belford House were unable to halt Scarborough Town’s championship challenge although the Seasiders were flattered by the 4-0 scoreline.

Nathan Cook and Wayne Brooksby had them two goals in front at the halfway stage, but it was only following the dismissal of Lee Harrison in the 70th minute that Boro became dominant.

Their late pressure was rewarded as Cook completed a hat-trick and Scarborough remain four points behind leaders Ryhope CW.

The Wearsiders had their work cut out before winning by the odd goal in three at Wolviston, who led from the third minute through Stephen Baker. Chris Trewick restored parity and a minute into the second period David Newby drove in Ryhope’s winner.

Silksworth were unlucky to fall behind when the ball hit James Kesterton and found the net but there was no disputing Teesside Athletic’s other two goals by Billy Millington and Kesterton.
