Wearside League

JARROW have the opportunity to leapfrog Easington Colliery and move into the top six when the sides meet at Perth Green this afternoon.

The South Tynesiders have fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks and once again manager Dave Bell is unable to field his first-choice line-up.

He said: “I’m definitely without Daryl Turnbull and won’t know until just before kick-off whether Lee Buglass, Christie Elliott or Declan Tilson can play.”

Easington miss Paul Harbord but are optimistic of Chris Hall recovering from injury.

Ryhope CW enjoy a four-point lead at the top of the table ahead of their game with Wolviston at Metcalfe Park.

Although Shaun Petch is ruled out, Stephen Hall resumes but manager Martin Swales will need to assess the fitness of Richard Jordan, Kevin Burns and John Bewick.

Wolviston’s chances of upsetting the form book are enhanced with the inclusion in their squad of Danny Robotham, Darren Beattie, Carl Reveley and David Patterson.

Houghton Town manager Steve Patton is pleased with his team’s recent form which he hopes will be maintained at Cleator Moor Celtic even though captain Simon Williamson is injured. Begimin Tsang could make his debut for Boldon CA in the home game with New Marske who miss Sam Crooks, David Brown and Michael Mackin.

Hartlepool, with just six points from 16 games, prop up the table but are boosted in the knowledge that last season’s leading scorer Chris Archer will make his first appearance of the campaign, against Coxhoe Athletic.

Brian Ross is also expected to resume following a six-week lay-off and midfield prospect Aaron Hopper is pencilled in for his debut. Scarborough Town, just four points adrift of leaders Ryhope CW, with a game in hand, are again minus Robbie Hawkes and Dean Craig for the visit of third-placed Ashbrooke Belford House.

Teesside Athletic, with ambitions of joining the Skilltrainingltd Northern League, are favourites to complete a quick double over Silksworth, whom they defeated 4-1 on Wearside in midweek.

Silksworth can not name Anthony Mustard, Gary Tyzack, Cameron Marshall, Jordan Crake, Darren George, Andrew Place or Andrew Bowes and will therefore field a severely weakened side. The Teessiders are stronger with Lance Skelton, Roy Hunter, Greg Booth and Danny Mohan all likely to play.
