HEDDON are still seeking their first home win and are on the bottom rung in the Premier Division, equal on points with Newcastle University who have played six games less than the Bullocksteads outfit.
Entertaining Alnwick Town, Heddon were beaten 2-1. Late in the first half two goals put away by Kevin Elliott and Tony Brown set Alnwick up for the kill and they held on for the points after Daniel Robinson got their hosts off the mark.
Seaton Delaval were unlucky to lose 2-1 against leaders Wark at Wheatridge Park.
Wark found it heavy going after Tony Lancaster fired them ahead.
Stephen Howes struck to get Delaval back on terms and they hit the woodwork twice. However Wark snatched victory with a telling strike by Mark Campbell in the dying seconds.
Murton were beaten 3-2 by Killingworth Sporting. Steve Turner and player-coach Andrew Upperton netted for Murton but they still missed out. Killy picked up maximum points with goals shared by Liam Callaghan, Anthony Burns and Kevin Westphal.
Cramlington Town restricted Heaton Stannington to a 2-2 draw. Goals for Gary Yates and Iain Irvin in the 14th and 17th minutes had Heaton coasting but the Town’s Jordan Watson trimmed their lead on the stroke of half time. And on the hour mark Danny Long restored parity for the home side.
Stocksfield secured a 2-0 victory over Ponteland United at the latter’s Leisure Centre Ground where both of their goals were claimed by Wayne Stewart before the break.
Blyth Town enjoyed a 2-1 win at home to Shankhouse. Chris Lisle opened the scoring for Blyth. The Town’s lead was doubled by Tom Haigh and although Kevin Gustard replied, time ran out for the visitors.
In one of only three First Division games, Percy Main nudged Gateshead Rutherford out of pole position by winning 5-1 at home to Newcastle East End.
