Danny Craggs had given Dave Hagan’s side a half-time lead and there were only 13 minutes left when Danny Earl equalised.
Horden CW eased their position near the basement by defeating West Allotment Celtic.
Kevin Devine volleyed home past goalkeeper Chris Bannon and early in the second period Daniel Hall struck for Celtic. In the last minute Devine won a penalty which he converted.
Chester-le -Street remain in the bottom six after crashing to a 5-1 defeat at home to Billingham Town, whose marksmen were Shaun Clark, with a hat-trick, John French and Chris Musgrave. Nathan Fisher scored for the Cestrians.
Birtley Town slipped to the bottom of Division Two when they suffered a 14th defeat in 16 games at Seaham Red Star, whose scorers were Anthony Dunn and David Mennell.
Hebburn Town scored five times in their last game but failed to take advantage of numerous opportunities and paid the penalty against Brandon United. Matthew Hornsby, Tim Bowman and Stephen Fothergill eased the visitors to victory. Hebburn’s Carl McMann shot well wide from the penalty spot.
Daniel Petts gave Team Northumbria the lead but the visitors had to settle for a point at Thornaby, for whom Dean Fox levelled.
An only goal by Elliott Gardner was sufficient for Newton Aycliffe at Washington, while Darlington RA moved off the basement with a shock victory over Gillford Park.
Chris Burton and John McKie enabled RA to celebrate only their second win. Ian Johnston had levelled for the visitors.
