Tyson Masters twice beat goalkeeper James Briggs to give Bishops the cushion of a two-goal interval lead but Norton rallied and levelled courtesy of Nathan Mulligan and Sonny Andrews.

Ryhope CW extended their lead to four points in the Wearside League when they comfortably saw off the challenge from Hartlepool on Wearside.

Martin Metcalfe and John Butler struck by the 35th minute and although Craig Lobb reduced Pools’ deficit, Ryhope eased home with Richard Jordan’s 85th-minute effort.

Scarborough Town were without a game and remain second but Teesside Athletic closed in when they retained the only unbeaten record, defeating Easington Colliery by the odd goal in three.

Chris Tarn produced a good finish from outside the penalty area for Easington and after Andrew Porritt restored parity, Dale Mendum beat the offside trap with seven minutes remaining.

Coxhoe Athletic failed to claim a point from their first nine matches but have taken seven from the last three to move up to third from bottom.

Paul Cantwell, Michael Hillary and Peter Bulmer had them three goals up at Willington, who set up a tense finale as John Harrison and Paul Bayles threw the result wide open. Coxhoe though held on and Willington now prop up the table.

Houghton Town suffered a five-goal rout at the hands of Cleator Moor Celtic, whose marksmen were Billy Irvine (2), Lee Dunn (2) and Craig Scott.

Wolviston were also in scoring mode and strikes by Anthony Brown (2), Liam Jackson (pen) and Mark Green (og) swept them to victory at Ashbrooke Belford House, whose only reply was credited to Peter Benson.

Silksworth conceded an early lead to Ross Hodgson but rallied to win at Guisborough Town HC thanks to Anthony Rogerson and Gary Tyzack (pen).
