BERWICK boss Jimmy Crease admitted his players were “gutted” to lose a late goal against Livingston at Almondvale, but added “If anyone had asked me before the start if I would settle for a point then the answer would most have been yes”.
Crease said: “We played well and I was pleased with the performance. Overall it was hard to tell which of the sides was the full timers.
“We outplayed them in the first half, and this in my view is a top result considering Livvy are a club geared to playing at a higher level.”
Rangers were desperately unlucky not to go in at the break in front after striking the frame twice within a minute.
Steve Radzynski saw a header from a David Greenhill corner rebound from the bar, and then Graham Guy was also denied by the woodwork with Greenhill again the provider.
Berwick finally broke the deadlock in 7l minutes courtesy of an own goal when Cameron McDonald guided a cross from substitute Fraser McLaren past his own goalkeeper.
The visitors pushed forward but just could not find the killer second, with home goalkeeper Roddy McKenzie in inspired form.
Livvy salvaged a draw with a goal two minutes from time.
Danny Griffen found the top corner of the net with a blistering 25-yard curling free-kick which left Mark Peat helpless.
