Today, The Journal's Stuart Rayner rates the rumours coming out of the papers half way through the transfer window.
1. The Mirror and The Independent report that Joe Kinnear has had to abandon plans to sign Lucas Neill on loan.
Newcastle did indeed enquire about West Ham's Australian defender, only for the London club to stress immediately that their player was not for sale. The deal is now well and truly dead.
