Carlisle United 4 Leyton Orient 1

CARLISLE assistant manager Graham Kavanagh watched his bounce into League One’s top six and said: “We are there to be shot at, but that means we are doing something right.”

With confidence and goals flowing in equal amounts from the Brunton Park outfit – especially in Saturday’s 4-1 drubbing of visitors Leyton Orient – it could well be another successful season – as long as the January transfer window does not get in the way.

Kavanagh said: “There were scouts here, but we cannot do anything about that.

“We feel we have a good group and we do not want to lose any of them.

“If we can get to the end of this month relatively unscathed and injury-free then we will be pleased.

“However, the scouts are bound to come to see why we are doing so well and we just have to wait and see what that brings.”

The latest demolition job started with just 56 seconds gone when in-form Francois Zoko controlled a Michalik pass before expertly stabbing past Lee Butcher.

Midfielder James Berrett said: “It was just the start we needed.

“The way they set up meant they were going to try and contain us, but scoring that early goal meant they had to come at us more.

“We exploited the gaps and it was a good victory in the end.” Matt Robson and Tom Taiwo made it comfortable before half-time with what Kavanagh described as ‘the jammiest goals we have seen for a while’.

The Carlisle left-back explained his rather strange celebration, which saw him run away with his face in his hands.

Robson said: “I did not hit my free-kick cleanly, but it took a deflection and somehow it went in.
