BERWICK Rangers have confirmed that caretaker manager Ian Little will continue to remain in charge of first team affairs until the end of the season.
Little stepped up to the role following the resignation of Jimmy Crease (pictured right) and was working on the basis that he would be in charge until the end of last month, as the club considered their options regarding appointing a new manager.
During that time, Little has set about building up his own case for the job with Berwick only losing twice in his first eight matches. He was named Scottish Third Division manager of the month for November and has continued to make the Borderers a hard side to beat, as demonstrated by the battling draws ground out against Alloa and Annan.
A club statement read: “Berwick Rangers have announced that Ian Little (currently in the role of acting manager) will continue in charge of the team until at least the end of the 2011-12 season.
“Ian will in due course be appointing an assistant who holds the necessary Scottish FA qualifications.”
Not surprisingly, Little was delighted with the announcement adding: “I have always tried to do my best for the club and now that I am manager I will continue to do that.
“The results so far since I took over have been okay, but I think it’s fair to say they could have been better.
“For example, twice we found ourselves 2-0 down but came back to draw, but I think that in both matches we had chances to win the games as well.”
No formal decision has been announced regarding who Little’s assistant will be, but it seems certain that Craig Valentine, who has been helping him in the dug-out so far, will also be asked to stay on until the end of the season.
