Berwick Rangers 2 Montrose 2

BERWICK Rangers came from behind to earn a draw for the third time in four games as they shared the spoils with Montrose at Shielfield Park.

The Gable Endies struck twice in a 12-minute spell early in the second half to wipe out the Borderers’ first-half advantage, but the hosts hit back and were unlucky not to snatch a win.

Rangers acting boss Ian Little, who is to remain in charge for the rest of the season, said “We are becoming something of the 2-2 draw specialists.

“We have to look at ourselves defensively because again we conceded two unacceptable goals.

“The defence is the area of the team which needs to be tightened up.

“This is something I will be look at during the transfer window.”

Berwick took the lead on 15 minutes when Kevin McDonald, who had earlier gone close, paved the way for Michael Deland to score.

The visitors levelled at the start of the second half when Andy McLean sliced a clearance in the penalty area, presenting Johnston with the opening to fire home.

Boyle doubled the Montrose tally after 58 minutes with a cracking low drive after racing past two Berwick markers.

David Greenhill levelled on 63 minutes, guiding home as goalkeeper Sandy Wood clawed away a net-bound effort from McDonald after he had seen his corner blocked.
