Huddersfield Town 1 Carlisle United 1

CARLISLE United made it three draws out of three as they rounded off 2011 with another determined performance against a Huddersfield side who have more than one eye lodged on automatic promotion.

Manager Greg Abbott said: “These teams seem to bring the best out of each other and it has happened again.

“ We are delighted yet again with the unity and team spirit we have shown and we deserved that point.

“It was another fantastic game and confidence is high in the team.

“To come to a place like this and take a point is a real positive for us and it keeps us going along nicely.”

The game started tentatively but was brought to life when former Terrier James Berrett won possession in midfield.

He fed the ball to Francois Zoko who expertly cut it back into the area after leaving his marker on the ground.

Sunderland-loanee Liam Noble did the rest with a finish into the corner.

The home side should have been back on terms immediately as Novak bustled his way into the box.

The ball broke for the unmarked Gary Roberts, but he went for power and drilled a wayward shot over the bar.

The Cumbrians looked confident and they almost doubled their lead midway through the half when Berrett pounced on a half-cleared free-kick.

Slovakian defender Lubo Michalik had stayed up and his fierce volley from just outside the area needed a parry from Bennett.

Zoko was first to the rebound, but his first-time volley was hooked away by Kay.

Huddersfield picked up their game and Murphy did well to stop a downward header on the line just moments before Danny Cadamarteri shaved the woodwork with a thunderbolt of drive from distance.
